The cultural life in Chemnitz is energetic, exquisite and richly varied. Inhabitants of Chemnitz are particularly proud of their theatre. With more than 800 events and concerts as well as 30 premières per season, the Theatre Chemnitz has etablished themself as the principal cultural providers of the city and region. They offer a full spectrum and diverse repertoire of opera, operetta, musicals, ballets, theatre and puppet theatre.

Special highlights of the year are the city’s festivals like the Saxon Mozart Festival always held in May or the annual Festival “BEGEGNUNGEN” - a cultural mix of music, literature and theatre.
