The City Management and Tourism Corporation City of Chemnitz was founded in January 2002 as a subcompany of the Economic Development Corporation, city of Chemnitz (CWE) and the City and Tourism Marketing of Chemnitz, a registered association.

The managing director of the CMT is Michael Quast. The CMT is responsible for city and event management as well as tourism as a whole, including the Tourist Information Centre.
